Ottawa Christmas Market this Weekend at Lansdowne

The Ottawa Christmas Market is set to blanket the neighbourhood  beginning Friday with the ceremonial tree lighting in front of the Aberdeen Pavilion.

The fourth-annual tree lighting ceremony is a magical night with the magnificent 60-foot tree illuminating the entire site for Christmas shoppers.

Attendees can take in the tree-lighting ceremony, then wander through the European-style market to shop for unique gifts from over 20 local merchants. There will be mulled wine, beer, hot cider and cocoa and a range of gifts to cross off your list. Glebe merchants include Jack Astor’s, Sunset Grill and Alicja Confections.

There will be a Christmas village of 16 cabins from which the artisans will sell their wares, with live musical performances and Santa Clause might drop-by.

The Market runs Fridays from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in December. The final market day is Sunday, December 22.

OSEG is pulling out all the stops when it comes to musical programming. Canadian icon Chantal Kreviazuk will open the market on Nov. 29 along with local jazz cat Megan Jerome before a solid roster of locals serenade us through December. There are 22 performances in December with artists like Danielle Allard, Rebecca Noelle, Shawn Tavanier and a Leverage for Mountains.
